UK Migration - band 7

The graphs give information about reasons why people move in and move out of the UK between 1991-1996 and 1996-2000.

In 1991-1996 the graph shows that the main reason why people chose to live in the UK is to be with their partners with numbers slightly above 70,000, while in 1996-2000, work seems to be the number one reason for migration which is marginally above 80,000, followed by studies with numbers slightly below 80,000.

On the other hand, people leave the UK to move in another country mainly because of work with around 60,000 in 1991-1995 and reached almost 80,000 by the year 1996-2000. However, unlike reasons for immigration, the graph shows that studies was the least reason to move out of the country with numbers of just around 10,000.

Overall, it can be seen that the main reasons for immigration are to be with partners and to work or study, while the reason to leave the country is mainly due to work.
